Wise, Young & King
Band Biography
You could say Wise, Young & King all stemmed from a grade 12 guitar class that Jimmy, Doug and Myles took in highschool. That’s where they learned to play together. They weren't necessarily following the curriculum and despite being talented players their grades in no way reflected their capabilities. But what they lost in academics they made up for in creativity. "We never really sought out to form this band, the pieces just fell into place."
It wasn't until September of 2007, with their final roster in place, that Wise, Young & King finally hit the studio to record their first ever track, “The Black Rider.” Inspirations and aspirations were at an all-time high and by February 2008 they had pressed their first five-song demo album.("Wise, Young & King)
To date, “Wise, Young & King” has played many of the Ottawa showcase venues, including Zaphods Beeblebrox, Capital Music Hall and The Rainbow Bistro. During the 2008 Canadian Music Week in Toronto, they were priviledged enough to play the hallowed Hard Rock Café. Considered hard rock in genre, they bring a strong element of classic rock to the forefront, in an attempt to recapture the live energy of a Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple. Their live performance has been described as "foot-on-the-amp power." It is important to WY&K that no one forgets where the music they love came from.
